I have been reading some amazing blogs lately and they have got me thinking. I read about people finishing novels,
conquering fears, cooking excellent, unique meals, running 5k and getting further than they had ever dreamed possible and looking to take part in an adventure, be it climbing Kilimanjaro or taking a road trip across the US.
They all utterly fascinate me. People achieving dreams and goals. This is where it got me to thinking about mine. I have them in my head, but not down on paper, like you’re supposed to do (if you’re goal setting) so I thought I would share my list of goals and dreams with you, as this is after all supposed to be a journal!
Finish my novel. (It was supposed to be finished a little while ago at 350 pages, but it took a life of it’s own and became a lot more! Next week some of that is going to cut down while I edit, re-edit and edit again)
Send it to the editor for composition editing (more of it on the ‘cutting room floor’)
Once the first professional editing is done then it needs to grammatically edited.
Choose a final design for the cover.
Ask for reviews to be placed onto the cover.
Have it ebooked and printed ‘for on demand’
Keep up with my Facebook, blog and Twitter.
Do a blog tour
Hopefully do a tour of the UK with it, (I was asked if I’d like to do one with a large organization over there)
Have it translated into Spanish.
Okay, above is what my dreams and goals are for my book, now my own personal goals and dreams.
Spend time with my kids before Christmas and hopefully at Christmas. (That’s my big one
)
Go to the Full Moon Party in Thailand.
Road trip around the US, several places need a stop off, Portland, Oregon (Don’t why but it’s calling me for some reason!) California, Sedona, Arizona, New Orleans, Kentucky, Alabama, Key West, Georgia and the Carolina’s, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont…these places ‘tweak me’ and I need to go!
Take a course in French and brush up on it.
Go ski-ing in the Alps next winter, been too long since I was last there.
Have a wedding blessing with friends and family.
Travel around the world like the movie “Last stop for Paul”
Buy a little old cottage on the south coast in the UK to share with my friends and family.
So there’s this years “Bucket List” of goals and dreams!
Did I miss anything out? Don’t know, let me know if I should add anything to the list that I might have forgotten
… maybe learn scuba diving finally with my husband… that would be good for a panic attack at least! Lol Please leave a comment and let me know what you think…
Great topic. Your goals all sounds fabulous, Claire, and it sounds like you’re moving along beautifully with your book. What an inspiration you are. My non-relationship goals are a Chinese split, back walkover, one minute handstand, a visit to Brazil, and a kitchen to cook, bake and make great salads in. I plan to live vicariously through you as you write and travel!
You have some cool goals too, I couldn’t even attempt a back walk over lol My back was so messed up when I was younger! and a visit to Brazil sounds fun
I understand messed-up backs. I’ve got scoliosis and yoga/flexibility training has been a lifesaver for me. The walkover goal? I’ve always been attracted to mastering the body. Looking forward to reading how your really-cool goals progress!
If you make it to Maine, let me know! =D I can show you all the amazing places that aren’t tourist traps =) Those are all amazing goals and I know you can do them all!
That would be so cool!
I remember the first time going into NYC with born and raised New Yorkers lol. One of them now being my husband, it felt like I was being shown the inside secrets that tourists don’t get to see. Since then we have discovered places that we’ve found together, like Assault and Battery, a little British fish and chips shop in the village.
I love going to places that aren’t tourist traps. I did cross off one that was on my list, which was the Brooklyn Bridge, had wanted to see that since I was 10, and the day I saw it I was on my own and it felt awesome!
Oooh! I so want to see those bridges too! But yeah it is a lot of fun when you have someone on the “inside.” It definitely makes you feel special… and the thing is… the Maine coastline is BIG on tourists… so when you find the little secrets… it really makes it special!
Good luck
I’m sure you’ll be able to achieve all your goals… I need to come up with some too… I’m just stuck in limbo right now, with my divorce ‘n all, so I feel like I’m kinda stuck on the tarmac at the airport to some degree LOL
If you and the fam ever make it out to Kentucky, give me a shout. Seriously. I don’t know much about what’s to see and do but we’ll go on the bourbon trail for sure.
I hear you, been there in divorce land too and it takes up all the goal setting!
Kentucky sounds fun, though the last time I took my husband around Brits they got him incredibly drunk back home on vintage whiskey and Tequila!:)
I enjoyed reading about your goals – but I don’t seem to have any. I’ve thought about it quite a lot this year – I truly cannot think of anything I’d particularly like to accomplish, anywhere I’d rather be than where I am. But I’ll track your progress with great interest and wish you well with yours!
It’s wonderful that you have found your own heaven
Good luck with your dreams
Thank you
Claire, just reading your goals and dreams gets me all excited for mine all over again! Isn’t it wonderful that we can just add to it as we go along and it never has to end?! Enjoy every moment of realising them all!
Absolutely! There will be good times to come
Love it, you have the faith in yourself, like the nike commercial message…just do it! I believe that you will acomplish it all…very soon!
That would be nice!
Good luck with your bucket list of things to do. I really wish to see some places in Ontario.
I hear Ontario is fun, I’d like to see the Niagara Falls too
Ah, You got to love lists. Goals are one of the most important because it don’t write them down and say them out loud then there is no real commitment. At least that is the wisdom on the subject. The true key is the belief that you can. If that exists then you will not only achieve your goals, but more then likely, you will exceed them. I am rooting for you.
Thank you, thinking of adding a new one since my plans for the book is going so well… learning to ride a motorbike!
and maybe getting an old Triumph! lol
I wish you all the best with this. Quite an impressive list! I really hope you finish the novel!
Thank you, getting there with the book too, should be with the editor next week… exciting times
Sound like a great list of goals and I know you going to accomplish them all. I was just like you about my book. Now since I have time from school I plan on getting a lot of it out the way! God Bless
Good luck with your book! It’s hard work, but I keep telling myself it will be worth it
Very inspiring, Claire! Thanks for sharing.
Maybe some day I’ll finish a novel, too.
Thank you and of course you will!
Find what inspires you and go for it
Wow you are going to be busy, good luck
lol Just a ‘tad’
