Author signing event tomorrow for A Broken Ring

I have been invited to do an Author Signing Event tomorrow in my village for the Fall Festival. It was a last minute surprise and with only a few books in hand I turned to Sharla Shults for a advice!

Sharla came through for me like a true hero and suggested a Sign-up/Order sheet for my books and to split them sell half of what I have on Saturday and the other half on Sunday.

As I said it came as a complete surprise and didn’t have to time to order more before the event.

So here we go… This is what I have managed to put together for tomorrow so far…

My spread for tomorrow (Badly lit! lol)

~ You come to me ~

No introduction needed, I’m sure you can guess who wrote this :)

You Come to Me in the Night

You come to me in the night

To kiss and hold me close and tight

And make my fear take flight

To hear that I’m your babyboy

Fills my heart with so much joy

It wipes away tears from my eyes

You say that I’m the one who saved your life

But we both know that that’s not right

It was you who came and lead me into the light

You ask me if I’m okay

But how could I be any other way

I’m always filled with the love of you!

I hope that you will even see

That in this life and the next you’ll be…

My life, my love, my best friend… my wife.

Vin Cappetta

You speaking English?! Of course

Late last evening I was happily designing my business cards online when ‘LastsongIheard’ posted a comment for for me. As Vin sat writing a new poem I was giggling in the background as songs from childhood were brought up as we commented back and forth.

Vin looked up and asked me what I was laughing at which was interspersed with the occasional “OH NO!”s After I had finished the cards, we started to pack up as it was getting late and the clock was gleaming 1.30am at us. I told him about some of the songs I had been laughing at… He looked blank, never heard of them so I found Jilted John which was a very politically incorrect group in the 1970′s back in the UK… I can’t repeat what he said here other than a few @*^#’s and “You guys bought that!”… Well no I didn’t but a lot did and sang happily along at the time to ‘Gordon is a Moron”!

But it did make me think as their accents are quite strong and how people here had a problem understanding me for a while until I slowed down and made an effort to enunciate properly… kind of… That is until people annoy me lol!

I thought about accents and how well know the American accent is and how easily it is to differentiate between states but in England it varies from town to town.

I have spent a lot of time, energy and patience to make sure my book is grammatically correct in true English other than I tilted the accents slightly so as not to lose people but who says what is truly grammatically correct? In my world that would be Oxford English but in real life? The one people live everyday? That’s a different story…

I remembered an old folk song my father used to sing to me. It now is classed as the Yorkshire Anthem. I showed it to Vin when we met. It took him a little while to figure it out, for me it’s a plain as the nose  on my face! Though he didn’t understand a word I said when I bumped into a Yorkshire-man from Bradford and slipped into my ‘old ways’. He said I was talking a different language!

Today I found it again and for all the poets and writers out there have fun with this and think of it in a “Monty Python’ accent! :)

Who has the money?

I told Vin he had a little following for his poems and told him I needed one! lol

Here is his latest… It’s a short one.

Can you tell what’s on his mind lately?!

Who has the money?

Who has the money, where can it be?

I work and work and it seems to allude me

You think it can’t hide forever and a day

But you work yourself into the grave

As you try to scrimp and save

And as you get nearer to the end

You realize like me, my friend

That it was all just a waste of time

The money was on the other side!

~ A Woman ~

Live, love, laugh, woman, empowerment, inpiration

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own even if she never wants
to or needs to…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her
dreams wants to see her in an hour…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her old age….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …..
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black
lace bra…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who
lets her cry…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone
else in her family…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a
recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a feeling of control over her destiny…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t
take it personally…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…
or a charming inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
a month…and a year…”….

I saw this on Facebook the other day. It was posted by ‘Live, Love, Laugh’ and I thought it was pretty cool, so decided to share it with you.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Love Life Loss sadness meet again poetry

~ It’s Time ~

It’s time to say goodbye

The pain I feel in my heart

just can’t hide

I’ll miss that smile upon

your face

I’ll miss your warm, soft embrace

I know someday we’ll meet again

But I know I’ll cry inside

till then

My heart is filled with the

thoughts of you

And all the things we used

to do

I know someday we’ll meet

again

And I know I’ll cry inside

till then

Alone in my Anarchy

Domestic Violence, Domestic Abuse, Pain, Sexual Assault

Alone in my Anarchy

Alone in my anarchy in my feelings

of misery

Someone once told me that everyone

has angels

But no, mine abandoned me left me here

in misery

Now I know just what Hell can be!

Alone in my anarchy in my feelings

Of misery

Even with souls around me I know I’m

alone

They say some people you see reach

A feeling of ecstasy

But I know that’s something that will

Never be for me

Alone in my anarchy in my feelings

Of misery

The spirit that haunts my soul makes

me walk this Earth alone

The hate that’s inside of me from a life

That use to be and you can’t see that’s

Its dead and cold!

Alone in my anarchy in my feelings

Of misery

Someone once told me that

everyone has angels!

But no mine abandoned me left me

here in misery!

Now I know just what Hell can be!

~ Love Comes ~

~Love Comes~

Love comes into my life

It fills my soul, my heart

Everyday I long for it’s passion, it’s thrill

It fills me with everything,

My life has missed all it’s beauty

It fills me with a sense of hope

In a world that has gone astray

Love comes into my life each and every day

For I know that you will stay

~ I Met My Love Today ~

I met my Love today

I know that she’s the way

that I am going to save my soul

I know her eyes are green

I know her lips are sweet

even though I never held her

close!

I know someday she’ll be

lying next to me

and that will be the day

I know I’m home

 I’ve been in love before

but now I know there’s more

then just the words to tell me so

 I found my love today

I know that she’s the way

that I am going to save my soul

because she always tells me so

 I know someday she’ll be

lying next to me

that will be the day

I’ll truly know

 That love has finally

filled

My soul

~ Higher Grace ~

Higher Grace

My heart is full of the joy of you

You hold it soft and dear

I see the love that I had missed

All through those darkened years

I wonder why I missed it

and can’t believe it’s true

that the way I feel inside of me

is all because of you

My heart is full of the joy of you

you make me feel anew

and all the things I see in me

I see inside of you

The world is such a brighter place

my life is filled with higher grace

my life is full of you

I’m sitting here and wondering why

it’s me you chose as the one

of all the ones you could have loved

I can’t see why it’s me

Of all the things that’s been in my life

there’s pleasant things that’s few

but I know that all the good things in it

are all because of you

I just want to keep you in my life

forever and a day

for without you inside of me

my life is dark and gray

My life is full of the joy of you

you hold it soft and dear

I see the love that I had missed

through all those fucked up years!
