This has been a strange week full of learning curves. Do you ever have one of those weeks when you feel you have been full on busy but haven’t managed to accomplished everything you set to plan on Monday?
I was full of motivation and energy. I sat down and wrote everyday as planned and now I’m so close to finishing the novel. I foolishly thought a couple of weeks ago it would be completed but as in life I talk too much, therefore I write too much too!
I have reached a 72K word count resulting in 347 pages, but my characters have so much more to say and do… a sequel maybe be the answer!
These past couple of weeks I let my baby, my novel, loose. The first chapter to a couple of people one here in the US and one in Europe. The result was amazing.
My new found friend and colleague, Leslie Miller of A Writers Query is incredibly helpful, the insights were what I had always hoped and dreamed of. I quietly performed my own little happy dance!
This is interesting because the first chapter was written and designed in my mind not to be an easy read but thought provoking, stunning even shocking.
Yesterday, I spoke to my friend, in Madrid and we had a discussion of how different cultures think so differently. It intrigues me. This is why I love talking to people from all walks of life and places.
Everyone has their own point of view, whether we agree with it or not is something else, be it religion, politics or freedom. It is and should always be liberating, breaking ourselves out of our own boxes by seeing life, work, friendship, relationships and through someone else’s eyes.
Opinions all come across in different colors, rather like a rainbow, each opinion a different color and hue.
Although I set down a list on Monday, as to what I would like to accomplish and learn, I always understand that the universe doesn’t always give you what you think you want, but instead brings its own curves to sometimes give you something much better and more profound, more understanding and more opportunities.
This week I was offered opportunities with my novel, once published, I couldn’t even have dreamt of, but they remain my little secret until it is set into stone. I await with anticipation to see what next week will bring!
What did this past week bring you? For me it was about my writing and my novel, for my husband it was about welcoming his baby granddaughter into the world.
What amazed you? What surprised you this week or excited you? Please comment and let me know… I can keep a secret!
