Goodreads winners will get their book in time! Phew!

I had a batch of A Broken Ring books delivered before the storm…

Sadly Sandy destroyed them all…

I had to re-order them all over again, they finally arrived and I sent out the copies to the Goodreads Giveaway winners yesterday!
Managed to do it all in the Goodreads time frame they gave me! Phew! :-)

My video view of Sandy before it hit!

Wow! I found out how to upload my Android videos to You Tube :-)

So without further ‘A Do‘.. lol

This was how Hurricane Sandy was around us at 5pm… before it hit us… It was much much worse by 8pm… This was the ‘calm before…”

Indiegogo is a go for A Broken Ring

It took longer than I thought it would… but then everything seems to take longer to set up than I think! I look at sites to be set up and think “Ah.. will only take an hour!” and four hours later I finally sit back with a “Phew, finished!”

But I did it!!

I now have an Indiegogo campaign!!!

Why?

I am looking to raise funds through crowdfunding to fund a publicist because I know a publicist will be able to get the word out there better than me. Firstly for the book and secondly which is what I consider even more the word of domestic violence and abuse.

The purple ribbon for Domestic Violence Awareness month

I have watched the news this month, seeing a lot of pink for breast cancer awareness which is truly needed and awesome but not a lot about the fact that it was also Domestic Violence Awareness Month too. I even posted on a Facebook of a news channel asking what and when were they going to cover it… when I checked back later to see if maybe I had received a response, even just a simple “Like” to the comment I found my comment had been deleted! The only comments that  were left there focused about how cable needed to bring it back :-/

This is why I have put up a campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds to get the message out there!

I really hope you can support me by sharing this campaign. Please tweet, Facebook, blog… raise a flag lol Anything! :-) It would be so greatly appreciated!!

Here’s the link to it:

Thank you, Thank you… and by the way Thank you!!!!

Did someone say ‘Bliss’? Pffft!

Thank you for bearing with me through my move and offering wonderful comments and wishes for our new place.

It has been stressful… actually I wish I could think of a stronger word for that… Stressful. It seems to just slip of the tongue like “Ah It was just… ice-cream” Hmm. Let me think… Alright, try this one. “It was REALLY FREAKING stressful!’ Followed by a small scream. Yes I think that does it.

Oh yes, in my last posting I mentioned I was getting an office, my own space, my space of bliss. This turned into my husband’s space with his computer, his chair and yes let’s not forget… His guitars. One, two, three and breathe deep! Ahh… Let me just check if I feel better or even remotely good about this this for one moment. No! No! I don’t. (Scream, no in fact once again, screeeaaammmm!) Ah better! Well actually he did get a little upset with me today as I dragged his favorite desk out of his office and into our bedroom away from noise. Now I can fall asleep at night smiling happily at my friend, my laptop. Do you think I’m losing it yet? lol

My yummy green

On a much brighter note I have inherited quite a nice little garden. I have green peppers growing which made excellent Italian Sausage and peppers dish with freshly grown basil. I have little cherry tomatoes falling each day like small red jewels singing “Eat me” if only I was called Alice instead!

My little herb garden :)

To top it off we have purple flowers, which seem absolutely appropriate for this months National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Purple flowers for October ;-D

In amongst all of this I have been invited to a cocktail party this Thursday for Breast Cancer Awareness and I’ve asked if I could donate a copy of my book in the giveaways. This seemed a ray of glistening sunlight amidst such a hectic week until I realized I have a dress to wear, just not the shoes. I spoke with my friend and we both agreed that biker boots are really not quite the right attire to go with a little black dress. The next day I went on the hunt! I have found the ugliest cutest shoes. Do you like the oxymoron there?

You know when you find a pair of shoes and say “Those are the ugliest things I have ever seen! I need them!” Or maybe you don’t, maybe it’s just me… maybe because I know no-one else will have the guts to wear them, therefore I have no fear of accidentally matching someone’s shoes and saying “Snap!”

Furry, Shiny Cocktail shoes!

Sorry? What did you say? “Are they furry?” “Why, yes they are! How very astute of you to notice!” I am indeed going to a cocktail party next Thursday in ugly, furry cocktail shoes! Bet you can’t beat that?  huh?

I hope you have had a wonderful week with no stress at at all, if not don’t worry. You can tell me… I promise to keep it secret! … Or I could always lend you a pair of furry cocktail shoes! Huh? There’s something not so lightly to be passed up on!

Super Swe-e-e-et Award!

I like nothing better than cupcakes especially deep dark mysterious chocolate ones with a fudgey center. Oh heaven Oh yum!

So it was really ‘sweet’ of Sharla who’s poetry on the Catnip of Life blog, can be sublime to extoll this super sweet award to me :)

Now I understand to follow this award I need to follow the guidelines, which are:

1. Give credit and mention the person who nominated you for the award (Done, tick! :) )

2. Answer the Super sweet questions

3. Nominate people to pay it forward to…

“Super Sweet” Questions:

1. Cookies or Cake?   Cake, definitely Cake the hot chocolate fudge type with the topping which goes all gooey after being warmed with lashings of whipped cream… heaven

2. Chocolate or Vanilla?  Err… let me think… Chocolate of course! lol

3. What is your favorite sweet treat? hm.. did I mention chocolate fudge cake yet?

4. When do you crave sweet things the most? Late at night, for some reason that’s when my sweet tooth kicks in

5.  If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be? My husband has several for me.. they start with the best of intentions… but then can get a little strange and I ain’t writing ‘em here!! lol

My nominated baker’s dozen are:

Breaking news!! IM-Safe with my book, A Broken Ring

A Broken Ring

At the very beginning of my journey writing, it was to be a healing tool for myself. It wasn’t meant to be shared with the world, just my story. My husband suggested I should do it so that I could understand what had happened to me in the past a little easier and if I was really lucky, maybe find some peace within it. I told him he was crazy but he kept pushing on the issue. I had another friend who kept telling me that with my experiences I should write a book. My reaction was to laugh with the reply of “Who on earth would want to read my about my life?”

Well, I started slowly and it built momentum. I learned about PTSD and RTS (Rape Trauma Syndrome, which I know a lot of people don’t like that title, but for me it fits) I’ve learned about my own personal issues and “Zones” as I call them as to how I react to certain situations. I have cried many tears and laughed out loud with joy, as the journey built into this blog and my Facebook page: C.L.Cappetta. I then turned my Linkedin page from finance to my writing and joined different groups about writing, blogging and violence/abuse. I suddenly started to make make new amazing friends who all had similar views. This was amazing as I had always thought I was alone!

One day I was introduced to a wonderful man called Dennis Golden. He is the CEO of the IM-SAFE Institute based in Connecticut with his daughter, Jennifer Lownik. They can be found at: im-safe.com. It is designed to help teach people self defense and personal empowerment by holding different types of self defense workshops. Some of their clients have ranged from Johnson & Johnson, ESPN, Cisco Systems, to name just a few! Their slogan words ring “Keeping women and those they love safe”.

They also have a forum for women to join, to discuss issues they have encounter regarding abuse and trauma, IM-SAFE forum. It is entirely confidential for sharing stories, events and most of all help and support.

I was absolutely delighted when Dennis Golden so very kindly gave me an excellent review for, A Broken Ring!

And here it is! TA-DAH!!!

“An engaging and riveting journey that impacts both the mind and heart.  The reader is immediately captivated from the opening lines and is launched on a journey of discovery and empowerment.

I guarantee you will be overcome by your need to read what happens next. This is a powerful story of discovery and hope for anyone who has been impacted (directly or indirectly) by abuse.”

Dennis E. Golden, CEO, IM-SAFE®

Keeping Women And Those They Love Safe
I have to say I feel so incredibly blessed! After he sent me the review, we organized a call. My first time talking to him and I am excited to say we will be collaborating together in the future on some exciting ventures to help keep women safe and spread the word about self-defense and empowerment.
How incredibly exciting! I am just so thrilled!

A Broken Ring done! 1st chapter free ;) he-he

I have my final version of my book, A Broken Ring done!

Happy dance, life love,writing

Happy Dance ;)

To be honest to feels quite strange. I have had it edited, I have edited it numerous times and to be honest I could keep editing it and tweaking it but I’m a bit of a perfectionist and could do it forever. I think though that it is now the time to stop.

I am trying to work out now how I want the posters to look. I know where I want my local Launch Party to be and I’m going to have a buffet table with wine, beer, coffee, tea and soda, which turns to be unlimited for 3 hours!!! Oh boy, I had better nurse one glass all night because I’m such a lightweight now when it comes to alcohol, ha ha.

I will be working on organizing press releases which I’m trying to devise the graphics for along with the synopsis which is new to me but I believe if I work hard enough at it it will turn out kinda awesome. lol. I will post them here first to see what you think and get your opinion… as always!

My husband suggested that I hire a publicist but I don’t want to do that because that’s not the point of this journey, as I think you understand now. I want people to see the ups and downs of self publishing and doing it all on your own, otherwise what’s the point to get so far and then hand it over to a professional. I know I won’t get the media blast I would other wise, but slow and steady wins the race… right? I do however have a little secret (which in my world is pretty awesome) which I have been trying to quietly organize and it’s coming together and I’m so excited about sharing it with you hopefully next week! :)

So here it is, if you haven’t had a chance to read my the draft first chapter I posted before then here’s your chance to read the final version. I will warn you if you are used to my happy, empowering and inspiring posts, it is not an ‘easy’ read and is born out of personal experiences.

Please click on the link below. It will come through as a PDF version.

A Broken Ring – 1st Chapter (Final Edit)

Thank you so much for sharing this journey with me!

Love life journey

Can I have 48 hours to a day, please?

Inspirational Blog Award, Life, Laugh, love honoredI want to say a huge thank you to Bethany Lee for thinking of me as she wrote her post. She was given the Inspirational Blog Award and created wonderful black and white pictures for her nominees. The pictures she created as just so cool, I suggest you hop over and see the magic she created :)

It has been a hectic few days and I told myself Tuesdays and Thursdays would be my blog days but PHEW I literally haven’t stopped and the only thing I have been able to keep up with is my Facebook page each.

To start we went to the Great South Bay Music Festival on Saturday, which so fabulous! Great Bands, wonderful stalls selling all the little things in life which none of us need but make us happy, intoxicating incenses, hot, sexy little dresses, jewellery and food non of it at all healthy but incredibly yummy! You know the kind… Hot dogs, funnel cakes burgers and the list goes on although we did find a lobster roll, sorry it was soo good I just chomped it down and forgot to take a picture till afterwards and I thought Ooops.. my blog! as I swallowed down the last morsel lol

Here are some of the pictures I did take!

I have also been dealing with some personal family matters here but one of the proudest and amazing pictures I saw over the weekend was a picture of my daughter graduating University. I am so proud for her! She has learned to speak a computer language I couldn’t even manage to attempt. She looked awesome and I really wish her the world!

Lastly, I am running around trying to get quotes for posters for the book launch and figuring out the final venue for here in my village. I’m thinking of having little posters done for shop windows as they will display them for me. I am also trying for the first time in my life to learn how to write press releases and invites.

I know over the next few weeks I will need to just stop, breathe and try and center myself before a whirlwind is created!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend and had a good one! For those of you stuck in the heatwaves and droughts here in the U.S. my thoughts are with you, try and stay cool ;)
